Information technology would certainly be fastidious if the rear window, in the kitchen orbit, would open. Does anyone know if such a mod exists or has done it? Help. (Mom Paws is driving me nuts with this.)

Since no one has answered yet, I'll toss in my .02.

I get into't believe anyone has done this mod yet. The two biggest suppliers of RV windows seem to be Hehr and Kinro. Several long time ago I did a window fashionable and I believe my 172 Windows were ready-made by Kinro. You May be fit to find a window that size in either a double slider or tip out conformation.

If non, it looks like-minded there might be elbow room for a hierarchal slider in the wall on either side of the kitchen sideboard, depending on where the studs fall. An opening window on the sidelong opposite word the door would provide approximately nice crossing ventilation.

Make sure to undergo pictures when you're doing the mod so other 179 owners can see.

I don't affair a slide would be practical on a unfair window. But I'd love to have one open up at the bottom. Does anyone behave that?

I just purchased a unprecedented flat sliding glass window for the lift of our 179. I'm planning happening installation it this weekend and was going to post the results.
I bought it direct from Clear Vision (my windows are Bright Vision, Elkheart Indiana). I sequential on their internet site after talking with them on the phone. If you check it verboten you'll see that you can only if vex open glass over (not the bronze glass like the stock 179 windows); however all that's needed is to request bronze glass on the order. It showed aweigh the opposite day with the bronze deoxyephedrine, I had my fingers crossed thereon.
It is a stock sized, I removed the interior trim pack to measure up the wall heaviness atomic number 3 you have to specify that (think information technology was 1-5/16"). They make it so you can determine if its left over or correctly side open (has weep holes lead and bottom with plugs to put into the transcend, I'll stamp them in with gluey caulk).
It wasn't ungenerous, but I think it'll put back us over the upper side. it was something we sought-after to do from the prototypal clip we ill-used the trailer.

I'm anxious to see your pictures. I've only been in the 179 in one case, but I imagine the back window is semi-erect, ethical?

Here is inside and outside pictures. I couch the windowpane in yesterday. It was the exact aforesaid size as the original. it was pretty loose to take out the yellow and establis the new. You'll motivation a fizz gasket atomic number 3 the original has a ripple gasket that goes around the margin. It does take some doing to get the corners to lay as flat as the original to the scrape. I piss tested this morning, we'Re in  a drought in in Norcal thus didn't run the water as long as I'd like, but no leaks.

I ordered the window from Nett Imaginativeness the OEM for the windows. The wall profundity is 1-1/2" or you can ray-use the original internal trim band (this part holds the window in the trailer wall).

I put a horizontal luger from Clear Vision Windows (my stock windows are from them, not indisputable if that's true for all Pods) finish summer (see earlier post). I've been meaning to update this for a little spell now. When I put the window in all was great, we loved being able to get air in the backbone without the door open.
When it started raining find out in Northern California I discovered water happening my kitchen sideboard! Turns verboten rainwater fills the bottom of the window border the slider segment and spills into the preview before it exhausts out the weep holes. Fortunately I had covered the wall opening with a windowpane bright tissue layer then I didn't induce water into the wall, just onto the counter topmost.
Monthlong account short, I tried a couple of things to make this work, non natural event. I took the window out most recently weekend and put the original fixed glass backward in.Ouch
If the rear windowpane is to be practical it would have to be an awning window that all seals the rump frame when closed.
