"Osculation You lot All Over" is a 1978 song performed by the group Exile, written past Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn. It was included on the band'southward anthology Mixed Emotions, and featured pb vocalizer Jimmy Stokley and guitarist J.P. Pennington on vocals.

On the American Top 40 broadcast of May 26, 1979, Casey Kasem reported that Chapman stated his source of inspiration for "Kiss You lot All Over" was "It'due south Ecstasy When Yous Lay Down Next to Me" by Barry White.

The song was a number one single in the United States, but proved to be Exile'southward only large hit in the pop market (they would later have great success on the country music charts). It held the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for iv weeks (starting September 30),[two] and Billboard ranked it as the No. five song for 1978. The track also reached number-one in at to the lowest degree 3 other nations.

In the United Kingdom, the vocal was released on Mickie Most's RAK Records, and peaked at number half-dozen on the UK Singles Chart.[3] The strings are played with a synthesizer in a backing track. In 2010, Billboard ranked the vocal 9th on its listing of "The 50 Sexiest Songs of All Time".[two]

Lead singer on the number, Stokley was ousted from the band in 1979, his health declining thereafter until he died at the age of 41 in 1985. The band moved into state music following the synth-pop success of "Kiss Yous All Over" and the 1979 follow-upward hitting "You Thrill Me" reached #twoscore (Uk No. 67) and "How Could This Go Wrong", #88 on the charts. "Take Me Downwardly" peaked at #iii on the Euro Hit xl in the mid-1980s.[ citation needed ]

Disquisitional reception [edit]

Larry Flick of Billboard mag wrote that "in that location's no denying that No Mercy'southward eponymous album is several notches higher up standard dance/pop fare—as evidenced past this Latin-spiced rendition of Exile'southward '70s-era hit." He noted that "the song'due south claw thrives within FMP's organization of swirling house beats and flamenco guitars." He also added "factor in the act's sweet harmonies".[27] Diana Valois from The Morning Phone call picked "Kiss Yous All Over" every bit the "second best cutting" of the album, describing it every bit "a full-blown flamenco exotica embrace".[28] Music & Media commented that "this highly successful trio has given this song a poppy-flamenco treatment that is likely to mean information technology will chart all over the identify one time again, something that proves that skillful songs last a long while."[29]
